Special screening of the 1989 cult film 'Say Anything' followed by a post-show conversation with star John Cusack.
John Cusack is coming to the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, December 6, for a night built around Say Anything, the 1989 coming-of-age romantic comedy that became a cult classic and made him a star. The evening starts with a screening of the film, and once the credits roll, Cusack joins the audience for a conversation where he takes questions and shares behind-the-scenes stories from making it, his career since, and why the movie has stuck with people all these years. It's a double feature in one night: the movie first, then the man who starred in it talking through it.
If you've seen Say Anything a dozen times, the second half is the real draw. The conversation is open to the room, so you can hear him answer questions from the audience and fill in the gaps on how the film came together. It's a chance to hear the story from the person who lived it, rather than just reading about it in a retrospective.
One thing to keep in mind: the date has changed. The night was originally scheduled for Friday, October 23, but it's been moved to early December. If you had the original date on your calendar, you'll want to shift it.
