A string quartet performs a tribute to Queen and ABBA classics under the gentle glow of candlelight at St Jude's Church.
Candlelight: Queen vs. Abba comes to St Jude's Church on Saturday 14 November, with a string quartet playing through the back catalogues of two of the biggest pop acts in history. It's a tribute concert, not a performance by the original artists, and the whole thing is set under candlelight.
The set splits its time between the two. From Abba, they'll run through Dancing Queen, SOS, Money Money Money, Voulez Vous, Waterloo, Super Trouper, and Gimme Gimme Gimme. Queen get an equal share: Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want to Break Free, Killer Queen, Don't Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You, and We Are the Champions. Hearing those big melodies stripped back to a string quartet is a different way of listening to them, and the candlelight adds to the mood.
It's a tribute experience, so it's not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the artists, their estates, or official representatives. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone. It's recommended for ages 8 and over, and under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult.
