Virtuosi Strings recreate the hits of Coldplay in a multi-sensory candlelight concert experience within a historic church setting.
Virtuosi Strings are taking on Coldplay at St Jude's Church on Saturday 14 November, part of the Candlelight concert series. The whole thing is stripped back to a string ensemble, with the church lit by candlelight rather than a stage rig, and the set built around Coldplay's songs played as string arrangements. It's a one-hour performance, and the venue is St Jude's on Kent Road in Southsea.
The setlist covers a fair bit of ground across their career. You'll get the early stuff like Shiver, Clocks and Speed of Sound, and the bigger songs that followed: Fix You, Paradise, Something Just Like This, Adventure of a Lifetime, Hymn for the Weekend, Yellow, My Universe, The Scientist and A Sky Full of Stars. It's a long list for an hour, so they'll be moving through them fairly quickly.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind. The show starts at 21:00, and it's recommended for ages 8 and over, with anyone under 16 needing to be accompanied by an adult. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone, so if you're keen on a particular spot, it's worth getting there a bit early. Doors open 45 minutes before the start and close five minutes before it begins, so you'll want to be inside by 20:55.
