The Low Bar Chorale presents an epic singalong of Billy Joel's best-loved tunes, with the band teaching the vocal parts.
Low Bar Chorale is bringing a Billy Joel singalong to Mississippi Studios on Friday, October 16. They're calling the night Turnstiles, and the whole thing is built around Joel's best-loved tunes. The band will be teaching the vocal parts, so you don't need to come with the songs memorized or have any choral experience to join in.
Low Bar Chorale is a Portland choral group that's been around the city's music scene for a while. They've been featured in Willamette Week's Best of Portland and won the Portland Art Museum's PAM CUT 'All Tomorrow's Artists' award. They're not just a small ensemble, either—back in January 2023, they recorded Run Away To Mars (Talk) at Revolution Hall with a chorale of 150 Portlanders, so they're used to working with a room full of people singing together.
That's the same energy they're bringing to this one. Instead of just watching a performance, you're part of it, with the band leading the way through the melodies and harmonies. If you've spent years singing along to Billy Joel in the car or at parties, this is a chance to do it with a room full of other people.
