Swervedriver perform their acclaimed 1992 album 'Raise' in its entirety, celebrating its 35th anniversary, before opening their back catalogue.
Swervedriver play Mississippi Studios on Tuesday, December 15, at 8 PM. It's a special one: they're celebrating 35 years of Raise, the record they're playing in its entirety before opening up the rest of their back catalogue. If you've got a favorite track from the early days that didn't make that album, there's a good chance it'll turn up in the second half.
For those who aren't familiar, Swervedriver formed in 1989 in Oxford, England. They've built their following around a sound critics have called 'easydelic'βthat blend of shoegaze and indie rock that puts the guitar textures front and center. Raise is one of their most acclaimed records, and hearing it from start to finish is the main draw here. After that, they'll pull from the rest of their catalog, so you'll get the full album and then a broader look at their career in one night.
They've kept working, too. Their most recent album, Future Ruins, came out in January 2019, so the set will likely pull from the newer material alongside the older stuff. Between the full run of Raise and the songs that follow, it's a long set that covers a lot of ground.
