Weekly Sunday morning Insight (Vipassana) meditation and mindfulness practice with guided meditation, a Dharma talk and community sharing.
Portland Insight Meditation Center is holding its Sunday morning meditation and mindfulness practice this Sunday, Oct. 18, from 10 AM to noon. It's a regular thing they run every Sunday morning, and this one is part of a stretch that goes through Dec. 27, so if you can't make this particular Sunday, there are plenty more coming up.
The practice is rooted in the Insight tradition—also known as Vipassana—and it's run by the Portland Insight Meditation Community (PIMC). Each session alternates between guided and silent meditation, with a Dharma talk or reflection in the mix, and it leaves time for inquiry or community sharing. The instruction is clear and inclusive, meant to work for newcomers and experienced practitioners alike, so you don't need to have a background in meditation to fit in.
The program is led by a rotating group of teachers, which includes PIMC's resident teachers, visiting guest teachers, and on some weeks, experienced community members leading in a peer-led format. It's a welcoming, community-centered gathering, and the rotating leadership means you'll hear from a few different voices over the course of the series.
