Live performance by the indie band Hot Flash Heat Wave at the Show Bar in Revolution Hall, a venue known for its music scene.
Hot Flash Heat Wave play the Show Bar at Revolution Hall on Sunday, October 11. It's a single-act bill, so they're the only name on the poster for the night.
If you're not familiar with them, the band started as a high school garage outfit in Davis, California, where the three founding members first met in the local music scene. They later reconvened in San Francisco and built their name in the Bay Area, and things shifted when the music video for "Gutter Girl," from their debut record, hit the front page of Reddit and pushed them onto an international stage. Since then, they've put out four records and an EP, and they've become a known name in modern indie rock.
Their sound pulls from a few different places—garage rock, dream pop, and post-punk—and they've worked across those styles over the course of those four albums and the EP. That mix of garage grit and dreamier textures is what they've built their reputation on, and it's what you'll hear live.
