A series of free live music sessions featuring local talent in the historic Secret Garden at Royal William Yard, Plymouth.
Yard Sessions are back at Royal William Yard for the summer of 2026, with six free live music evenings running on Fridays from early June through to mid-September. The dates are Friday 5 June, 19 June, 3 July, 17 July, 14 August and 11 September, each running from 17:30 to 20:00.
The sessions take place in The Secret Garden, tucked behind Residence 1 (PL1 3RP). You reach it through an archway into a landscaped walled garden just metres from the sea, where the historic buildings around it open up elevated views over Plymouth Sound from the garden steps known as 'the lookout'. It's a spot built to showcase local talent across a range of styles, and the series runs as a sequence of free live music on Friday evenings. If wet weather is forecast, the sessions move indoors to Melville.

Le Vignoble, the Yard's independent wine bar, runs a licensed bar inside the garden, so you can get a drink and stay for the whole set. Each evening is free, and the 17:30 start means you're in and out before the night really gets going, with the music wrapping up by 20:00.
