A comedy-drama film set on a remote Scottish island, following two siblings who defend their home from an evicting council worker, directed by Louis Paxton.
The Incomer is coming to Plymouth Arts Cinema on Friday 18 September, with a few more screenings following over the next week. It's a new film from Louis Paxton, running 102 minutes, and it's rated 12A.
The story is set on a remote Scottish island where two siblings, Isla and Sandy, make their living hunting seabirds and keeping the 'Incomers' at bay. Their world gets turned upside down when Daniel, an awkward council worker, arrives with the intention of evicting them. What starts with the siblings trying to toss him off the island literally turns into a thaw as they share their lore and he talks about mainland virtues like avocados and the internet. It's described as an uproariously funny and heartwarming film, with the three of them — each having lived with isolation, loss and loneliness — lowering their guard and embracing human connection.
The cast is a strong one: Domhnall Gleeson, Gayle Rankin, Grant O'Rourke, Emun Elliott, Michelle Gomez and John Hannah. It's a UK production from 2026, and the 12A rating means it's suitable for most audiences, though you might want to keep that in mind if you're bringing younger children.

There are five screenings to choose from: Friday 18 September at 6:00pm; Saturday 19 September at 5:30pm and 8:00pm; Wednesday 23 September at 2:30pm; and Thursday 24 September at 8:30pm. Standard tickets are £9.50, with matinees at £7.50, over 66s at £8.50, and a £5.00 ticket for under 25s, students, AUP staff, and those on a budget. Bringing in Baby and family screenings are also £5.00. Friends get a 10% discount, and tickets are £6.50 on Tuesdays. Companions, personal assistants, or carers accompanying disabled customers or CEA card holders get in free. Online bookings add a £1.50 booking fee per transaction, which is waived for members.
