A summer evening event at Dartmoor Zoo featuring after-hours zoo tours, animal talks, a BBQ, chilled drinks, acoustic live music and s'mores over a fire pit.
Sizzle & S'mores! is a new after-hours summer evening at Dartmoor Zoo, running from 17:00 to 21:30 on Friday 17 July. It's put on by the Dartmoor Zoological Society, and the whole thing is designed as a relaxed night out rather than a standard day at the zoo.
The evening is built around a curated itinerary. You'll start with zoo tours and animal talks, so you get to wander the grounds and hear from the keepers when the usual daytime crowds have gone. From there, it moves into the food and music: a BBQ and chilled drinks, with acoustic live music playing throughout. The night finishes with s'mores over a fire pit, set against a summer sunset.
Because it's an after-hours event, it's a different way of seeing the place. You're not rushing through the exhibits in the middle of the day; you've got the tours and talks to guide you, and the BBQ and music to settle into. The s'mores by the fire pit is the final act, so the evening carries on well into the twilight.
