Live tribute to R.E.M. recreating their raw and energetic sound live at the Barbican Theatre.
REM Pretend are playing the Barbican Theatre on Saturday 8 August, a tribute to R.E.M. that runs from 19:30 to 22:00. They're a tribute band, and they describe themselves as the UK's definitive R.E.M. live act, with the whole thing built around recreating the passion, energy and joy of the original band playing live.
That live energy is exactly what they talk up. They don't go for a polished, studio-perfect sound; they describe their approach as 'very, very live', and that's the whole point of the night. If you've spent years listening to R.E.M. records, this is the live version of that, played with the same raw, energetic feel they had on stage.
