PULP: What Do You Do For An Encore?

PULP are coming to Plymouth Arts Cinema on Friday 18 September, with a documentary about the band that's been in the making for a while. It's called What Do You Do For An Encore?, and it's directed by Garth Jennings, who's worked with them for years. Frontman Jarvis Cocker narrates it himself, so it's his voice guiding you through the whole thing.

The film was shot during PULP's 2025 tour, and it mixes live footage from those shows with four decades of archival material that's never been seen before. That's the real draw here: the old clips and behind-the-scenes stuff from across their career, not just the recent tour. It charts their journey from Sheffield outsiders to cultural icons, and it does so over 99 minutes, with twenty songs spanning their career running through it. If you've followed them for years, there's a good chance you'll see things you haven't seen before.

The band featured are Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Nick Banks and Mark Webber. It's a look at one of Britain's most unusual bands, and having Cocker narrate his own story gives it a personal touch you don't always get with these kinds of documentaries.
