Plymouth RNLI Open Day

Plymouth RNLI are opening their doors at Plymouth Lifeboat Station on Saturday 22 August, from 10:00 to 15:00. It's a full day of maritime rescue on display, and it's free to attend, though donations are very welcome.

The main draw is the chance to actually get on board the station's all-weather lifeboat, the Sybil Mullen Glover. It's not often you get to step inside one of these boats, so if you've ever wondered what they're like up close, this is your chance. Along with that, there will be sea rescue demonstrations throughout the day, so you can see the crew in action rather than just hearing about it.

It's also a good day to meet the people who keep the station running. You'll find the volunteer crew and the fundraising team on hand, so if you've ever wondered how the lifeboat service works in Plymouth, you can ask them yourself. There are other activities running alongside the demonstrations, so it's a proper day out rather than just a quick look around.

The station is at Royal William Yard, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 3RP. It runs from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturday 22 August, and it's free to attend, with donations very welcome.
