Down the Rabbit Hole Afternoon Tea

Bistrot Pierre is doing an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea on Monday 31 August, the August Bank Holiday. They've called it Down the Rabbit Hole, and it's set inside the restaurant's Secret Garden, so it's an outdoor affair rather than a table in the main dining room. The whole thing is built around the book, with the food, the drinks, the décor and the garden games all playing on that same theme.

It's not just a few cakes on a stand, though. The booking includes an arrival cocktail to start you off, and then unlimited tea and coffee to keep you going as long as you fancy. Between the food and the drinks, there's immersive décor and traditional garden games to get stuck into, so it's as much about hanging around in the garden as it is about the eating. If you're heading there with a group, the games give you something to do while you're waiting for the next round of tea.

It's a bank holiday Monday, so it's one of those days when you've got nowhere to be and can actually take your time with it. The Secret Garden is tucked away at Bistrot Pierre in the New Cooperage, Royal William Yard, so you're right by the water in one of the quieter corners of the Yard. It's £38.50 per person, and with the arrival cocktail and the bottomless tea and coffee included, it's a fair bit more than your usual afternoon tea.
