Cat Rose - I Know The Dark

Cat Rose is back at The Barbican Theatre on Saturday 31 October, playing her debut album I Know The Dark in full. It's a homecoming of sorts — Rose is a Plymouth-based folk-indie singer-songwriter, and this is her first time bringing the new record to the stage here.

If you've followed her for a while, you'll know she's come up through the city's own scene. She's a student of the Barbican's Rebels Music programme and has played sold-out shows at both The B Bar and the Barbican itself, and she's already taken WasteLand — her 2025 debut EP — on a solo tour around the UK. That EP dealt with isolation, resilience, mental health, neurodiversity and working-class identity, and it's where she first started to find her voice. Her song 'Seagulls' has since reached nearly 50,000 streams worldwide.

I Know The Dark is the next step. The show is an intimate one, and Rose describes it as intertwining storytelling with emotive melodies, exploring the complex emotions of human existence. It's the kind of night that lets the songs breathe, with the storytelling sitting right alongside the music. She's been championed by BBC Introducing, where host Tom Williams called her a talented songwriter with an interesting insight and a funny creative personality — a side that often comes through when she's talking between the songs.

The concert runs from 19:00 to 21:00 at The Barbican Theatre on Castle Street, PL1 2NJ, and tickets are between £16.96 and £22.38.
