Blue Heron runs at Plymouth Arts Cinema from Friday 10 July to Sunday 16 July. It's a drama from director Sophy Romvari, set on Vancouver Island in the late 1990s, and it follows eight-year-old Sasha as her Hungarian immigrant family starts over in an unfamiliar home. What looks like a hopeful transition slowly unravels as her eldest brother becomes increasingly volatile, destabilising their daily life.
Romvari draws on her own childhood experiences for the story, and the film is as much about how a child sees things as it is about the family itself. It's a portrait of childhood, family fractures, and the fragility of memory, and it looks at emotional estrangement and the difficulty of understanding the people closest to us. The cast includes Eylul Guven, Edik Beddoes, Iringó Réti, Ádám Tompa, and Liam Serg. The film is in Hungarian and English with English subtitles.

Tickets are £9.50 standard, with matinees at £7.50 and over-66s at £8.50. Under-25s, students, AUP staff, and budget tickets are £5.00, and there's a £5.00 ticket for bringing-in-baby and family screenings. Friends get a 10% discount and tickets are £6.50 on Tuesdays.
