Baga Chipz, RuPaul's Drag Race icon, brings her autumn stand-up comedy and cabaret tour Bagz to Riches to the stage, joined by comedian Tanya Hyde.
Baga Chipz is bringing her autumn tour, Bagz to Riches, to the Devonport Playhouse on Friday 11 September. It's her first time back on the road since Chip Off the Old Block, and this one is billed as an outrageous, camp cabaret full of sequins, big hair and untold stories.
If you're not already familiar, Baga Chipz MBE is a RuPaul's Drag Race icon with nearly twenty years in showbusiness behind her. Her sets usually run the gamut from disco and power ballads to big-band show tunes and musicals, so there's a fair bit of ground covered in a single night. Bagz to Riches follows that same broad streak, mixing the cabaret side of things with stand-up comedy.
She's not doing it alone, either. Joining her is Tanya Hyde, a comedian and vocalist who's been her partner in crime for two decades. The two of them perform duets that range from ABBA and Bananarama to Wicked and Chicago, and the set is as much a celebration of their twenty-year friendship as it is a tribute to friends past and present. Between the songs, there's the stand-up side of the show, with Baga sharing the untold stories that give the night its title.
