The set focuses on Bush's early work, drawing from The Kick Inside, Lionheart, and Never for Ever. Much of the material comes from her 1979 Tour of Life, with some of her better-known songs mixed in. It's a piano and voice performance with a few surprises thrown in along the way.
There's a quote from Kate Bush herself that fits the whole thing: "The more I got into presenting things to the world, the further it was taking me away from what I was, which was someone who just used to sit quietly at a piano and sing and play. It became very important to me not to lose sight of that." That's exactly the territory this show returns to — the songs brought back to a piano and a voice.
It runs from 19:30 to 22:00 at The Barbican Theatre on Castle Street, Plymouth, PL1 2NJ. Reserved seats are £20. For more details, you can call 07581094904 or visit www.almostkatebush.com.
