500 Miles

500 Miles opens at Plymouth Arts Cinema on Friday 17 July, and it's running through to 23 July, so you've got a full week to catch it. It's a road movie from director Morgan Matthews, 101 minutes long, and it's being described as a poetic, life-affirming look at the human spirit. The story follows a broken family forced back together when two young brothers, Finn and his live-wire younger brother Charlie, run away from home. They set off on an epic journey from Yorkshire, over land and sea, to the wild west coast of Ireland — specifically Dingle, County Kerry.

Along the way, they're helped by Cait, a free-spirited busker, as they make their way towards their estranged but beloved grandfather, whom their parents haven't spoken to since the fateful events of the previous summer. It's a long way to go for a family reunion, and the trip takes them across two countries to get there. Bill Nighy leads the cast, with Roman Griffin Davis, Dexter Sol Ansell, and Maisie Williams alongside him.

The cinema is at 0 Tavistock Place, PL4 8AT. Standard tickets are £9.50, with matinees at £7.50 and over-66s at £8.50. Under-25s, students, AUP staff, and budget tickets are £5.00, and baby and family screenings are also £5.00. Friends get a 10% discount and £6.50 on Tuesdays.
