Exhibition of work by Tina Williams Brewer at Concept Art Gallery, with an artist talk on 2 December.
Tina Williams Brewer brings her exhibition A Right to Dream to Concept Art Gallery in Regent Square, opening Saturday, November 14, and running through January 9. It's a long stretch, so you've got plenty of time to swing by over the holidays.
If you haven't spent much time there, Concept Art Gallery is a Pittsburgh institution that's been around since 1972. It's a gallery and auction house in one, and it does a bit of everything: fine art sales, themed auctions every couple of months, and professional services like art handling, appraisals, and custom framing. The antique side of the house specializes in 19th-century oil paintings and hand-painted watercolor maps, so it's the kind of place where you can find a contemporary show and a century-old map under the same roof. People who go there tend to describe the exhibitions as thoughtfully curated and well hung, and this one is no exception.
Brewer's show takes over the Upstairs Gallery, and there's a specific date to keep in mind if you want to hear from the artist herself: she'll be giving a talk on Wednesday, December 2, at 6 PM. It's a good chance to get some context on the work directly from her before the exhibition wraps up in early January.
