Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre's holiday production of The Nutcracker, choreographed by Terrence S. Orr, for its final year in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre brings The Nutcracker back to the Benedum Center from December 4 through December 27, 2026. This is the version most of us recognize—concept and choreography by Terrence S. Orr, set to Tchaikovsky's score—and it's returning for its final year. The company has already announced a completely new production is planned for 2027, so this run is the last time this particular staging will be on the stage.
It's been a part of the city's holiday season for more than twenty years, and PBT is framing this run as a final chance to see it. If you've gone every year, or if you've been meaning to take the kids for the first time, this is the year to do it before the production retires.
Beyond the performances, there are a few extra things to work around. On Friday, December 4, there's an Artist Q&A, and on Saturday, December 5, a Nutcracker Family Workshop. If you're looking for a performance with audio description, that's available for the 4:30 PM show on Sunday, December 6. The theatre programs are free and don't require registration, though the family workshop does.
