Musical based on the novel and film 'The Notebook', directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, with music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson.
The Notebook opens at the Benedum Center on Tuesday, November 10, as part of the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season. It runs through Sunday, November 15, with performances Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sunday at 1 PM and 6:30 PM.
It's a musical adaptation of the best-selling novel that inspired the movie, following Allie and Noah, who share a lifetime of love despite the forces that threaten to pull them apart. The production runs 2 hours and 20 minutes with one intermission, and it's recommended for ages 10 and up because it uses flashing lights, periods of darkness, and theatrical haze.
Behind the scenes, the show is directed by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, with music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson, a book by Bekah Brunstetter, and choreography by Katie Spelman. Critics have called it a deeply moving portrait of the enduring power of love, with "beautiful songs" and "absolutely gorgeous" staging.
