Free workshop for Pitt students, faculty and staff to design and build a miniature 3D book nook from upcycled and found materials, facilitated by Angela Hindes.
The Craft of Enchantment: Build a Book Nook is coming to the Cathedral of Learning on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. If you've never heard the term, a book nook is a miniature 3D scene built to sit between books on a shelf—like a tiny doorway into another world. It could be a cozy room, an enchanted forest, or a winding woodland path, tucked right there among your favorites.
Angela Hindes from the Center for Creativity is facilitating the session. You'll build your own using upcycled and found materials, paint, collage, beads, cork, and natural elements. The whole thing is set to warm, dreamy music with cocoa and tea on hand to keep the cozy vibes going. No art experience is necessary; you just need your imagination.
This is part of the Center for Creativity's guided sessions for Pitt students, faculty, and staff, which run through a wide range of creative outlets—material alchemy, queer-horror-inspired poetry, embroidered writing, and printmaking are all on the list. It's also listed as part of the Student Office for Sustainability's First Thursday series, which runs on the first Thursday of each month from September through April.
