Teen Choice

Teen Choice is back at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Squirrel Hill this Friday, October 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. It's part of the library's Teenspace programming, and it's aimed at young people in years 6 through 12. If you're in that age range and looking for something to do after school, this is one of those low-pressure spots where you can just hang out and make something.

The whole point of the session is that you choose your own creative adventure. There isn't one set project everyone has to do. If you started something at the previous week's Teen Time and didn't quite finish it, you can pick up right where you left off. If you're coming in fresh, you can dive into something new using the supplies and games they have on hand. And if there's something you're already passionate about, you can bring it in and teach the other teens about it. The library's Teen Specialists are there the whole time to help out if you get stuck or just want a hand getting started.

It's a weekly series, so if you don't feel like you got enough done in one hour, you can always come back the following week and keep going. That's part of why it works as a drop-in: you can spend a few weeks on one big project or just pop in for a single afternoon when you're in the mood to create. It's less about a finished product and more about having a dedicated space to tinker and share ideas with other people your age.

Teen Choice runs this Friday, October 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Squirrel Hill, 5801 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. It's open to teens in years 6 through 12.
