Bilingual story session with Bogota artist Gabriela Pinilla, who shares her illustrated book 'Escuela de la Belleza' and hands out a special colouring book.
Gabriela Pinilla leads a Story Saturday session at the Carnegie Museum of Art on Saturday, October 31, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. The morning is presented with the Pittsburgh Art Book Fair, and it's held in the Bruce Galleries.
Pinilla is a Bogota-based artist whose work is part of the 59th Carnegie International, If the word we, through a special artist project published in the exhibition catalogue. This session draws from a personal history: inspired by her father-in-law, who ran a school in the small mountain town of La Belleza in Santander, Colombia, she wrote and illustrated a book imagining a day in the life of a schoolboy. During the hour, she hands out a special coloring book in which participants can draw their own stories of going to school. The session is held in both Spanish and English.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Pittsburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

The morning also serves as a gateway to the 2026 Pittsburgh Art Book Fair, where Pinilla shows a wide selection of her books and printed matter. If you're into artist books, it's a good chance to see a good chunk of her work in one place. The session is free with museum admission.
