Weekly Wednesday gathering of makers to work on a communal quilt that will be raffled off for charity.
The Soft Tech Quilting Bee is a weekly gathering at Hunt Library in Pittsburgh, held on Wednesdays from 5 to 7 PM in IDeATe Studio A (Room 106B). It's a casual, open-door kind of thing, and the organizers describe it as being open to makers of all skill levels, so you don't need to be an expert to show up. There's no obligation to attend every session, either—you can drop in when it fits your schedule and skip the rest without worrying about it.
Once you're there, you've got a few ways to spend your time. You can contribute to a communal quilt project, bring along your own quilting or piecing work to chip away at, or just hang out and chat. The communal quilt is the center of the whole thing: everyone adds their part, and when it's finally finished, it's raffled off to raise money for a cause the group chooses to support. So your stitching ends up going toward something bigger than just the quilt itself.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Pittsburgh and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
