Weekly outdoor market with local vendors selling lunch, baked goods and handmade items in Gallagher Plaza on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
Pitt Public Market is back at Gallagher Plaza on Wednesday, November 4, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. It's one of those mid-week spots in Oakland that works if you're around the University of Pittsburgh during lunch—right in front of the William Pitt Union, so it's easy to swing by between classes or on a break.
The market runs on select Wednesdays throughout the school year, and this one is part of a stretch that includes October 28, November 4, and November 11 and 18. The vendors rotate weekly, so the spread changes each time. On the food side, you'll find things like Mr. Bulgogi, Nicky's Chicago Style Hot Dogs, The Pie Place, PGH Crepes, and Street Fries 4 ever. For something a bit lighter, there's Pittsburgh's Best Cafe, Cilantro & Ajo, and Cool Beans. If you're looking for sweets, Kyle's Cakes N at and MAD Bake Shop are in the mix. On the handmade side, you'll see Abeaded, Dibble & Dabble, Weird Little Earrings, and Artie's Hot Sauce.
There's a specific goal behind it: connecting students, faculty, staff, and the wider Oakland community with small businesses selling local, fresh, and handmade items. It's also built around being zero-waste, which means vendors have to serve meals in compostable containers and can't use disposable single-use plastic bags. It's a small detail that adds up when you're buying lunch from a dozen different stalls in one afternoon.
