Pedantic Fall 2026 Cohort Farewell Celebration

Pedantic is hosting a farewell celebration for its Fall 2026 cohort this Friday, October 30, at the Pedantic Apartment on Penn Avenue. The evening is a send-off for the residency's first fall intake—three creatives who spent October living and working out of the apartment and connecting with the Pittsburgh arts community. The cohort consists of Min Liao, Veronica Sesana Grajales, and Dr. Gaila Sims, and the night is a chance to chat with them and hear about their time in the city before they move on.

To get a sense of what they've been doing, it helps to know how Pedantic works. It's a residency built around exchange and inspiration for creatives working in visual art, curating, and writing. They welcome artists from all over the world and often host people based outside the United States, providing visa-application support and assistance to make it happen. The residency itself is a four-week collective program that takes in three creatives at a time, with an emphasis on exploration and connections with the city rather than production. During those four weeks, residents stay free of charge in a newly constructed three-bedroom apartment and receive a $2,000 stipend, paired with a Pittsburgh-based guide to help them find their way around. The organization also awards a Pedantic Research Grant, a one-to-two-week independent program for a creative to conduct self-motivated, Pittsburgh-related research.

Friday's celebration is the public capstone to that month of living and working here. There will be a goodbye toast, light food and drinks, and the three residents on hand to talk about their experience. It's free and open to the public, so you can just drop in and say hello.
