Author talk with Anand Gopal and moderator Benjamin Case about his book 'Days of Love and Rage'.
Anand Gopal will be at Alphabet City on Sunday, October 18, for a talk about his book Days of Love and Rage: A Story of Ordinary People Forging a Revolution. The session runs from 3 to 4 PM, presented by City of Asylum.
Days of Love and Rage is an account of six Syrians fighting for a better world, a story that's been read as much as a chronicle of the Syrian revolution as a study of rising authoritarianism in our times. It was a Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award finalist, and it sits in the tradition of Philip Gourevitch and Katherine Boo. Gopal writes for The New Yorker and also wrote No Good Men Among the Living.
Moderating the conversation is Benjamin Case, a local organizer and writer who's a research assistant professor at the Center for Work and Democracy. He's the author of Street Rebellion: Resistance Beyond Violence and Nonviolence, so he's coming to this from a similar orbit of political resistance and organized struggle. The two will talk through the book and the people at its center.
