Free, informal one-hour lunchtime concert by Pittsburgh Opera's Resident Artists, followed by a reception.
Pittsburgh Opera's Resident Artists are performing at the George R. White Opera Studio on Saturday, October 24, as part of the company's Song Shop series. The concert starts at 12 PM and runs for one hour, and it's open to everyone.
If you haven't come across them before, the Song Shop is a regular thing for the company: free, informal lunchtime performances given by the Resident Artists on selected Saturdays. Each one lasts an hour and changes theme from concert to concert, so what you hear here will be different from the next one. The whole point is that they're open to anyone, and the company encourages you to bring a friend and a lunch along with you. After the music wraps up, FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera hold a reception.
It's a low-stakes way to hear the Resident Artists up close, without the formality of a full opera production. Since the theme changes each time, the program shifts from one Song Shop to the next, and the lunchtime slot makes it an easy thing to fit into a Saturday morning. And because it's free, you can drop in without overthinking it.
