Screening of Rubaiyat Hossain's 'Made in Bangladesh' (2019) within the Carnegie Museum of Art Film Series curated by Kivu Ruhorahoza.
Rubaiyat Hossain's Made in Bangladesh (2019) screens at the Carnegie Museum of Art on Thursday, November 12, from 7 to 10 PM. It's part of the 2026 Carnegie Museum of Art Film Series, which runs in tandem with the 59th Carnegie International.
The series itself is a bit of a deep dive into the museum's own archives. Launched in 2023, it invites guest curators to pull screenings from the museum's collection of nearly 1,000 films and video pieces. That collection has a long history here: it started in 1970 when Sally Dixon founded the Department of Film, and by 1974 she'd helped create the Scaife Galleries, which included a theater built specifically for experimental film. Over the decades, the museum has gathered landmark works like Ken Jacobs' Tom, Tom the Piper's Son, Stan Brakhage's Pittsburgh Trilogy, and Carolee Schneemann's Fuses.
This year's series is curated by Kivu Ruhorahoza, a Rwandan filmmaker and visual artist whose work has screened at Sundance, Berlinale, TriBeCa, IDFA, Venice, and MoMA, and who was the 2022-2023 Stewart McMillan Fellow in distinguished filmmaking. He's framing seven monthly screenings around the themes of resistance, community, and interconnectedness, choosing films that use visual poetry to honor the human spirit under pressure. Made in Bangladesh is one of those seven.

The screening takes place in the Art Theater inside the Carnegie Museum of Art, so you'll be watching it in the same building that houses the rest of the collection. It runs from 7 to 10 PM on Thursday, November 12.
