Free open house celebrating afterschool learning with lab tours, hands-on STEM experiments, light snacks, book giveaways and meet-and-greet with the centre's team.
The Citizen Science Lab is opening its doors for a family-friendly open house on Thursday, October 22, from 3 PM to 6 PM. The event is part of Lights On Afterschool, a national initiative by the Afterschool Alliance that celebrates the impact of afterschool learning. If you've ever wondered what actually happens inside the lab, this is your chance to step inside and see it for yourself.
The afternoon is built around a few different things you can do at your own pace. There are lab tours that take you through the facility's state-of-the-art spaces, and hands-on STEM experiments that let you get your hands dirty rather than just watching from the sidelines. You'll also get to meet the TCSL team and hear about the programs the center runs for young scientists in the community. Between the tours and the experiments, there are light snacks and book giveaways to keep you going, and the whole thing is open to all ages, so it works as well for a toddler as it does for a teenager.
