Holiday musical that combines dance, live music, singing and spoken word to honor the legacies of Pittsburgh natives Billy Strayhorn and Gene Kelly.
Suite Life returns to the Kelly Strayhorn Theater on Saturday, October 31, as part of the KST Presents series. It's a Pittsburgh holiday tradition that comes back every year, bringing together dance, live music, singing, and original spoken word to reimagine timeless favorites. This year, the show adds a VIP Soundcheck Reception and the inaugural Suite Life Paradigm Awards, with musical direction by Yoko Suzuki.
The performance honors the legacies of Billy Strayhorn and Gene Kelly, two of the city's greatest cultural visionaries and fellow Pittsburgh natives, and the city that once inspired them. The Kelly Strayhorn Theater, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the city's East End, takes its name from the two men. Since launching its KST Presents programming in 2008, the theater has been Black-led, fostering radical imagination for Black and queer arts, culture, and community by cultivating BIPOC and queer artists, entrepreneurs, and arts administrators. The historic venue has served the community for more than two decades, and its Alloy Studios in Friendship acts as a further cultural hub.
