An introductory salsa dancing class designed for adults who are new to dance or have never danced salsa before, taught by world champions.
Crossbody Dance and Movement is holding an Intro to Salsa Dancing class on Saturday, Oct 17, from 1 PM to 2 PM at their studio in Squirrel Hill, 1918 Murray Ave. It's part of a weekly Saturday series, so if you can't make this one, there's another coming the following weekend.
This session is specifically for people who have never danced salsa or who are a bit intimidated by the idea of getting on a dance floor. You don't need a partner to join, and you don't need any prior experience. The hour is built around the basics, so you can walk in without knowing a single step and walk out with a handle on how it works.
The studio was started by Rachel Booth and Vincent Jones, world champion salsa and bachata dancers who also spent time as adult beginners themselves. They built their teaching method for adults who've never danced before, focusing on listening to the music, connecting with a partner, and feeling confident in your own body rather than just copying steps. It's a way of learning that prioritizes the feel of the dance over a list of moves to memorize.

It runs from 1 PM to 2 PM on Saturday, Oct 17, at 1918 Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill, with a $20 drop-in fee.
