Family-friendly Halloween activities in costume with stilt walkers, magic shows, and more, free with admission.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting Halloween Happenings on Friday, October 23, from 5 to 8 PM. It's a family-friendly afternoon built for little ghosts and goblins, and the organizers encourage everyone to come in costume for the activities. The lineup includes stilt walkers and magic shows, with more activities scattered throughout the session.
If you're not familiar with the venue, Phipps is one of Pittsburgh's old landmarks. Henry Phipps gifted it to the city in 1893, so it's been around for more than 130 years. It's a globally recognized green leader, and its mission is to inspire and educate through the beauty of plants, advance sustainability, and celebrate its historic glasshouse. The grounds cover 15 acres, including a historic 14-room glasshouse and 23 distinct indoor and outdoor gardens. Its sustainable architecture and operations draw more than half a million visitors every year.
