Holiday party hosted by Friends of Pittsburgh Opera with festive live performances by the company's Resident Artists.
Friends of Pittsburgh Opera are hosting their holiday party on Sunday, December 6, at 6:30 PM, with the venue still to be announced. The night's main draw is a set of festive live performances by the company's Resident Artists, who'll be singing through the evening.
The party is put on by the Friends of Pittsburgh Opera, a community of supporters that keeps the company going year-round. If you're not already in the loop, joining costs $150 a year, or $10 a month, and gets you a monthly newsletter, invitations to community gatherings like the Speaker Series, early access and special pricing for FPO events, and opportunities to volunteer. The FPO calendar runs fellowship, fundraising, and opera scholarship events from summer garden parties and a season welcome party to salon-style gatherings and talks by opera aficionados and scholars.

This party comes during the company's 88th season, which stages five operas across four downtown venues: the Benedum Center, the Byham Theater, the Pittsburgh CAPA School Theater, and the Bitz Opera Factory. Among them is Working for the Macbeths, the company's sixth world premiere in the last ten years. The holiday party is one of the social bookends to that season, a chance to hear the Resident Artists perform live in a more casual setting than a full production. It starts at 6:30 PM on Sunday, December 6, in Pittsburgh, with the specific venue to follow.
