Full-length production by fireWALL Dance Theater that blends contemporary dance, burlesque and storytelling around six witches and a Devil.
fireWALL Dance Theater brings COVEN to the Greer Cabaret Theater on Saturday, November 7, at 7:30 PM. It's a full-length production that blends contemporary dance, burlesque, and storytelling, and the company is presenting it themselves.
The story follows six witches, each with a power of her own, and a Devil who thinks he's untouchable. Every glance of his becomes a binding spell and every touch a sultry secret as the enchantresses summon him to the center of their altar, while mystical beasts linger in the shadows. It's a narrative piece, so there's a plot to follow rather than just a series of abstract movements.
Behind the choreography are four names: Elisa Alaio, Brandon Coleman, Darren McArthur, and J. Rae. With four different choreographers contributing to one full-length show, you'll likely see a few different styles and perspectives working together on the same stage. The mix of contemporary dance and burlesque also points to a performance that's as much about character and theatricality as it is about the dancing.
