A dance party for women and gender-expansive folks with DJ Jess spinning 80s-2000s pop, hip-hop, new wave, and R&B.
Earlybirds Club is back at Stage AE on Saturday, October 24, for another dance party built for women and gender-expansive folks. The night is centered on the idea of partying early and still getting home in time to be a responsible adult in the morning, so if you're usually the first one to head out when the clock hits midnight, this is your speed.
DJ Jess is on the decks for this one, spinning pop, hip-hop, new wave, and R&B from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It's a broad stretch of decades, so you'll hear everything from old-school pop and new wave to the R&B and hip-hop that defined the 90s and early 2000s. The organizers describe the dance floor as judgment-free and built on joy, kindness, and connection, and they frame the whole thing as a safe space: they don't police identity at the door, but they do ask everyone who buys a ticket to respect it.
The night is driven by the club's resident DJs, with each party featuring a different one, which gives the room a taste of local dance-music talent. Some of the people behind the scenes come from the non-profit events and marketing scene, like ambassador Molly Northrup, who moved to Pittsburgh in 2014. Ten percent of ticket proceeds go to the Susie Lee Legacy Fund, and when you buy a ticket, you're consenting to event photography and video for promotional use.

Doors open at 6 PM, and the party runs from 6 PM to 10 PM, so you're in and out well before the late-night crowd even gets started. Tickets are $39.36.
