A bilingual early learning programme for caregivers and children aged 0-5, run by La Escuelita Arcoiris in partnership with Duolingo's Early Learners First initiative.
Duo's Treehouse is running at the Kingsley Association in Squirrel Hill on Fridays from October 16 through October 30. It's a free bilingual program for caregivers and little ones from birth to age five, and it's run by Duolingo's Early Learners First in partnership with La Escuelita Arcoiris, a nature-based Spanish immersion preschool in Squirrel Hill known for its small class sizes and year-round calendar. The whole thing is built on the idea that joyful, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate play lays the foundation for lifelong learning, and the space welcomes caregivers and children into a bilingual Spanish and English environment.
There's some broader context to it, too. Duo's Treehouse is part of Duolingo's social impact program, which invests $1 million annually in affordable childcare and early education in Pittsburgh. Kendra Ross, the company's head of social impact, runs the program. And starting October 16, there's an added option: developmental screenings using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire, offered in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh's Applied Developmental Psychology program.
