Free, informal one-hour Song Shop concert by the Resident Artists of Pittsburgh Opera, with a reception afterwards.
Pittsburgh Opera's Resident Artists are performing at the George R. White Opera Studio on Saturday, April 3, 2027, at 12 PM. The concert is called the April Song Shop, and it's part of the company's Song Shop series: free, informal one-hour concerts that run throughout the season. Each one has its own theme, so the program changes from one to the next.
If you're not familiar with the Resident Artists, they're the young singers in the company's training program. These are the voices you'll hear in the chorus and in smaller roles across the main stage, and the Song Shop is one of the few times they get to step out of the ensemble and take the lead. It's a low-stakes, midday setting, which makes it a good way to catch them in a more relaxed light than a full production.
The Song Shop sits alongside other free offerings from the company. There are the Outside the Salon events, like 'Sip & Sing' and 'La Belle Epoque,' and the pre-opera talks that run before the main stage shows. The company's full productions are staged at the Byham Theater and the Benedum Center, with radio previews airing on WQED-FM 89.3. The series is supported in part by a public grant from the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD).

As for the day itself, the Opera encourages you to bring a friend and a lunch to the studio; FRIENDS of Pittsburgh Opera host a reception afterward. The concert is free, and it starts at 12 PM at the George R. White Opera Studio, inside the Bitz Opera Factory at 2425 Liberty Avenue.
