Hands-on visual arts workshop with artist Goolam Saber to explore ideas for the next community mural.
Goolam Saber is leading a visual arts workshop at Eastlake Park on Saturday, October 24, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. It's a hands-on session, so you'll be making things rather than just watching someone else work.
The whole point of the afternoon is to brainstorm ideas for the next community mural. Instead of one person deciding what goes on the wall, the session is built around the people who show up. Saber describes it as a workshop where participants explore ideas for the mural, and the invitation is that attendees' voices help shape the vision. If you've ever walked past a public mural and wondered who decided what it should look like, this is your chance to be one of those people.
Because it's a hands-on workshop, you'll be working with your hands and contributing your own thoughts to the mix. It's less about having a polished portfolio and more about showing up and getting involved in the process. The goal is to gather a range of perspectives and ideas that can eventually find their way onto the wall.
