Tribute show to Johnny Cash performed by Shawn Barker, who embodies the Man in Black in character throughout the evening.
The Man in Black: A Tribute to Johnny Cash comes to Crescent Ballroom on Saturday, January 23, 2027. It's a full-evening tribute fronted by Shawn Barker, who performs in character as Cash throughout the show, backed by a full band. He walks the audience through the different eras of Cash's life and music, playing hits like "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk The Line," "A Boy Named Sue," "Hurt," and "Ring of Fire."
Barker's background explains how he landed here. Born and raised in a working-class suburb of St. Louis, he served in the Army and worked as a carpenter, modeling his crooning on legends like Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, and Gene Vincent. His first touring gigs were actually as Elvis; he discovered Cash was his true calling after auditioning for the part of Cash in a Hollywood production. His first Man In Black show was in 2004 at a casino in Niagara Falls, and he's since performed over 1,000 shows in 12 countries, selling more than half a million tickets. He brings that same baritone voice and those same mannerisms to the stage, staying in character from start to finish.
