A centennial celebration of bassist Ray Brown featuring the John Clayton Trio, with special guests Larry Fuller, Corcoran Holt and Chris Finet performing music from 'SuperBass'.
The John Clayton Trio plays The Nash on Friday, October 16, for a night dedicated to bassist Ray Brown. It's a centennial celebration of Brown, and the whole set is built around his music.
The trio is led by bassist John Clayton and drummer Lewis Nash, and they're joined on piano by Larry Fuller, who played in the Ray Brown Trio. That connection puts the evening in context: Fuller isn't just filling a chair, he's bringing a direct link to the musician the night is honoring. Corcoran Holt and Chris Finet also join in, and the evening closes with a special performance of Brown's music from the album SuperBass.
