Phoenix guitarist Jeff Libman leads an organ trio with Michael Kocour on organ and Robby Carrillo on drums at The Nash.
Jeff Libman leads his organ trio at The Nash on Friday, October 30, with Michael Kocour on organ and Robby Carrillo on drums. It's a classic organ trio setup — guitar, organ, and drums — and they describe their sound as blending those traditions with a voice of their own.
Libman is a long-standing figure in the Phoenix jazz scene. He's on the ASU Jazz Studies faculty and serves as Vice Chair of The Nash, so this is home turf for him. His album Feet Off the Ground, released on Cellar Music in 2025, reached #12 on the NACC Jazz Chart.
Kocour, ASU's Director of Jazz Studies, is an internationally recognized pianist, organist, and composer who has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Lovano, Randy Brecker, and the Chicago Symphony. Carrillo is also on the ASU Jazz Studies faculty and is a sought-after Phoenix drummer who has played with Fred Forney, Armand Boatman, Marty Ashby, and Charles Lewis. The three of them bring a lot of local and national experience to the same stage.
