Free outdoor soul and funk performance by Phoenix vocalist Nico B. in the Herberger Theater Center's Community Showcase series.
Nico B. plays The Pavilion at Herberger Theater Center on Saturday, October 24, as part of the center's Performance Pop-Up series. It's a free, 60-minute outdoor set in downtown Phoenix, and it's one of the many acts the theater is bringing to its outdoor spaces this season.
Nico B. is a Phoenix-based vocalist, songwriter, and creator originally from the Midwest. He's known for soul-forward live performances that pull from two different wells: covers and his own original music. He also leans into authentic funk, so you'll hear both the songs he's written and the ones he's reimagined. The set is an hour long, and the focus is on the live vocal.
The show is part of the Herberger Theater Center's Community Showcase series, which brings free, hour-long outdoor presentations to downtown Phoenix on Saturday evenings. The series is built around artists who reflect the community, and the lineup this season covers a wide stretch of styles: Diwali and Hungarian vocal showcases, Chicano music, Odissi dance and jazz, hip-hop and R&B, spoken word, ballet, and circus arts. Each performance is meant to activate the theater's outdoor spaces with interactive opportunities, so it's more of a community gathering than a traditional seated concert.
