High-energy, sing-along Halloween puppet show for the very young, with rod and hand puppets, at the Great Arizona Puppet Theater.
Old MacDonald's Pumpkin Patch is running at the Great Arizona Puppet Theater through November 1, a high-energy, sing-along Halloween show built for the very young. The story is simple enough for toddlers to follow: the farmer and his animal friends have to find a costume for Halloween, and they do it with rod and hand puppets. The music stays toddler-friendly throughout, so it's the kind of thing you can bring a little one to without worrying they'll get restless.
It's part of the theater's broader family programming, which runs alongside a few other things you might find interesting. There are adult slam nights for the grown-ups, and a teen puppetry workshop led by Sarah Frechette, founder of PUPPETKABOB and a UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence recipient. If you're looking for something for the older crowd, there's also The Afterlife with Bony Tony, an 18+ Halloween show that pairs live puppetry with a 3D animated film. There's an activity guide available for the show, too, if you want something to keep the kids busy before or after.
