Free Halloween event for children ages 1 to 5 with pumpkin finding, trick-or-treating, crafts, music, games and snacks.
The Itty Bitty Pumpkin Hunt comes to Pecos Community Center on Friday, October 30, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. It's a free Halloween event put on by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, and it's built specifically for the city's smallest residents — kids ages 1 to 5. If you've got a toddler or a preschooler, this is one of those mornings where you can just let them run with it.
The main draw is the pumpkin hunt, where the little ones get to find their own pumpkin to take home. From there, the morning fills out with trick-or-treating, craft making, music, games and snacks. It's a good mix of activities that keeps them moving from one thing to the next, and everyone is encouraged to come in their favorite costume. The whole session runs for about an hour and a half, so it's a contained morning rather than an all-day affair.
The hunt is part of a wider autumn program the Parks and Recreation Department is running across the city's parks. That includes community trunk-or-treats, inflatables, and a few spookier attractions for older kids, so if you're looking for more than one Halloween outing, there's usually something else nearby. The Itty Bitty hunt is the one aimed at the youngest end of that range, though.
