Curator-led talk on the music of the cosmos, including a guided tour of related museum exhibits.
MIM Talks: Music of the Cosmos comes to the Musical Instrument Museum on Thursday, November 17, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. It's part of the museum's MIM Talks series, and this one centers on the relationship between music and the cosmos.
The session is led by a curator who'll talk through the connection between sound and the universe, and that's only half the experience. After the talk, you'll go on a guided tour through the museum's galleries to see the instruments and exhibits that tie back to the conversation. It's a good way to see the collection with a bit of context rather than just wandering through on your own.
If you've spent any time at the MIM, you know the scale of the place can be a lot to take in. A guided tour like this helps narrow the focus, so instead of trying to see everything at once, you're following a specific thread—in this case, the cosmic one—and seeing the instruments that fit that theme. It turns a general visit into something more like a curated walk-through.

As for the logistics, the talk is included with paid museum admission, and it's free for members. It runs from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, so you'll want to give yourself a couple of hours to take in both the talk and the tour. If you're already a member, you're set; if not, you just pay for your ticket and the session is part of the day.
