Indian stand-up comedian Kanan Gill headlines Stand Up Live with his new show 'Not This Again' on his international tour.
Kanan Gill is coming to Stand Up Live on Thursday, October 29, at 7 PM. He's performing his new show, Not This Again, as part of what's his most ambitious international tour to date. If you've never seen him, Gill is one of India's most prominent stand-up comedians, known for observational humor that works as well in a Phoenix club as it does anywhere else. He built a huge digital following before moving into live theaters and auditoriums, and his most recent world tour reached over 100,000 people across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia—a scale only a few Indian comics have hit.
On stage, he's not the high-energy, loud-and-fast type. He's known for a calm presence and sharply constructed material, relying on precision rather than spectacle. That's the hallmark of his approach: he spends a lot of time on the writing, and it shows in the way the jokes land. The humor is observational, the kind that takes a common situation and turns it on its head, and it travels easily across cultures. Not This Again is a brand-new show, so this is a chance to see it early in the run.
Beyond stand-up, he's written, acted, and released several comedy specials. He also wrote the comedy science fiction novel Acts of God, which he describes as being inspired by Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. That same sensibility—sharp, slightly absurd, and well-constructed—is what carries over into his live sets. He's spent years refining his writing, and Not This Again is the latest result.
