Hip-hop show by the duo Armand Hammer (billy woods and Elucid) with special guests Open Mike Eagle and Kenny Segal, presented by Best Life Presents.
Armand Hammer play the Crescent Ballroom on Wednesday, November 4, presented by Best Life Presents. They're bringing along special guests Open Mike Eagle and Kenny Segal, with Psypiritual and The Lasso opening the night.
Armand Hammer is the duo of New York City MCs billy woods and Elucid. They first crossed paths on a 2011 compilation, and woods later reached out to Elucid for a guest verse on his solo album History Will Absolve Me. From there, the two started working together in Elucid's home studio and put out their debut, RACE MUSIC, in October 2013. Their writing blends socio-political, historical, and philosophical critique with gallows humor and narrative Γ©lan. Their 2021 album Haram, produced with The Alchemist, was described by Pitchfork as dragging postcolonial wounds onto the examination table.
Both have stayed active on their own, too. woods' GOLLIWOG was called by Rolling Stone a densely poetic, totally masterful tour de force, and Elucid's REVELATOR made the New York Times' Best Albums of 2024. That solo work runs alongside the duo's output, so there's a fair bit of ground they cover between the two projects.
